Organization Overview

Launched in 2012, Celia Grace is America’s first line of fair trade wedding dresses and is redefining “the perfect white dress.” Celia Grace sells wedding dresses and accessories in bridal boutiques across the US and around the world. Celia Grace was inspired by founder Marcelia Muehlke’s background in international development and the fruitless search for a more meaningful wedding dress for her wedding in 2009.

Why make eco & fair trade wedding dresses?

Clothing factories around the world pollute our water and air and take advantage of desperately poor people who are forced to work in unhealthy and unsafe conditions (more than half the world’s population lives on less than $2.50 a day). Today, brides and grooms want a more meaningful wedding and a whopping 78% of brides are taking steps to make their wedding more environmentally-conscious. Six in 10 people know about Fair Trade and it is growing rapidly.

What is Fair Trade?

Fair Trade is a global movement to end poverty by giving you as a consumer the ability to vote with your dollars for the kind of world you want: one where people are paid a living wage, work in safe and fair conditions, and can break the cycle of
poverty. Celia Grace is proud to be a member of the Fair Trade Federation.

FAQ's

Q: How does a dress borrow work?
A: We love partnering with photographers, planners, and wedding peers on styled shoots or wedding events. We all pool our goods and expertise and then get photos we can use to promote our businesses. Celia Grace will mail sample dresses to shoots and events if they are not in our area.

Q: How much does it cost to borrow a dress?
A: We charge $25 to ship you 1-2 dresses and charge $25 per dress to put toward occasional dress dry cleaning. You pay for return shipping.   Right now we only lend dresses in the US due to shipping costs.

Q: How much lead time do you need for a dress borrow?
A: The more lead time the better! We recommend a month of lead time and we usually need at least a week to pack and ship the dress(es). Reserve as early as possible for best selection.

Q: Do I need to sign anything?
A: Yes, we have a borrow agreement we use any time we lend a dress. We'll email you with this after getting the information below if your shoot or event is a good fit.

Q: What kind of photo shoots do you prefer?
A: We give priority to shoots that will be submitted for publication through TwoBrightLights or to bridal blogs or mainstream press. We find the fully styled shoots (with a table setup, invitations, flowers, etc. and a strong design element) are most likely to be accepted for publication. We are actively seeking shoots with models size 4 - 12 and with brides and couples of all shapes, sizes, colors, orientations, and abilities.

Q: What dress sizes do you have?
A: We have sample size 4 and 12 dresses in most styles. Our size 4 measures about Bust: 34 inches, Waist: 27 inches, Hip: 37 inches, and ideal height varies by style. our size 12 measures Bust: 39 inches, waist 32.5 inches, Hip: 42.5 inches with varying ideal height. We'll send dress clips you can use to fit the dress to the model if it isn't an exact fit. We are actively seeking stunning photo shoots with models size 4-12.
